The Fergusson - Nacimiento road connects the coast with fort hunter-Liggett climbing over the Santa Lucia mountain range in the process. It is a winding road on the ocean side of the pass and rather steep. I do not like going DOWN the ocean side in my Ford Taurus, as the engine will not hold the car. From the ridge eastward into Hunter-Liggett is wonderful California scene, preserved in part by the military. As of 911, stopping along the road to photograph is NOT approved..
