Up in back of the Mission San Antonio is a wonderland of early California. For some distance you are "on the post" and the guard at the gate will tell you that you may NOT stop for photography.. Don't dispair, you will soon exit the military grounds annd be free to explore. The road on which yu are traveling north would eventually enter the Carmel Valley area west of Greenfield, were it not for a gate just past the campground.
