Northrop P-61 Black Widow

The P-61E was designed to act as an escort fighter for B-29s in raids over Japan. The crew nacelle was sheared off at the wing top and a two position cockpit covered with a bubble canopy installed. I watched #2 die in a takeoff "accident" - fortunately the pilot was fine. It was by far the most beautiful of the P-61 variants, and my favorite.
