After a three year lay-off from the electric side
of performing, Gary Mendoza is back with a vengeance with his new band,
"The "Gary Mendoza Band". Originating in February of 2002, this band is
driving hard and making a name. The band features all new members, each
one professional in their own right. "The Gary Mendoza Band" rocks the
house with a blend of Chicago/Delta-style blues, to California West-Coast-style
blues, and they always deliver a crowd-pleasing performance.
Gary Mendoza - Lead vocals and harmonica. Gary Mendoza
is a bluesman at heart, raised on the traditional sounds of Muddy Waters,
Howlin' Wolf and Little Walter and inspired by rock legends such as "The
Beatles", "The Rolling Stones", and "The Allman Brothers Band". Gary has
a love and a passion for the kind of music that touches the heart and inspires
the soul. Gary has been performing for live audiences since the early age
of 10 with a vocal style all his own. Since 1995, he has fronted such bands
as "Code Blues", "The Blues Effects", and "The Salt Water Blues Band".
He also fronts an acoustic trio playing coffee houses and deli-restaurants
from Santa Maria to San Luis Obispo.
Bruce Krupnik - Guitar/Slide Guitar, Vocals. Originally
playing and recording with bands in Los Angeles, Bruce has been playing
on the CentralCoast for the past six years as a former guitarist for "Slidewlnder"
and "The Hoodoo Blues Band". As of recent, he has been playing acoustic
and resophonic guitar fcr "The Gary Mendoza Trio". Bruce is now bringing
his emotionally charged Electric Blues" guitar style to "The Gary Mendoza
Band".
Tom Howells - Electric Bass. Bursting on to the blues
scene in 1995 with "The Code Blues Band", Tom has been sitting in with
various other blues and rock bands on the Central Coast ever since. Reuniting
with Gary Mendoza, he now has a permanent position with the band and adds
that mean back beat thump that keeps the feet tapping and the hips swinging.
Eloy Hernandez - Drums. A newcomer to the blues scene
with deep roots In gospel (sister to the blues), Eloy is a master at his
craft, providing that crisp deep tone that can conjure up the spirits of
the supernatural. Playing in his fathers gospel band since the early age
of nine, and many other gospel bands thereafter, Eloy continues to explore
new challenges in music with a desire to excel to perfection and has proven
to do so in "The Gary Mendoza Band".
